Disguise

Leveraging the delicate properties of wax

Disguise is a flower vase comprised of unique textures created by molding multiple layers of wax in a rotary motion. Ripples created by subtle vibrations reflect light and shadow and further enhance a three-dimensional, deep expression. Commonly wax is employed as part of a production process and often discarded, yet here it forms the main material. Through rotational molding, delicate multi-layered structures are created, all individual in form. The production process utilizes simple tools, minimising energy consumption, whilst the wax can be re-used when melted achieving circularity in design, safe and harmless to the environment and the human body. By taking the very delicate aspect of wax and the manifestation of thermal energy, we+ propose the use of alternative materials, manufacturing methods and forms of expression through the integration of nature and the artificial.
