Furniture Collection for Dior Bamboo Pavilion

A collection of bespoke furniture pieces created for the Dior Bamboo Pavilion, a new destination by Dior in Daikanyama, Tokyo. Conceived as an architectural and artistic project that extends beyond the framework of a traditional boutique, the pavilion brings together culture, craftsmanship, and spatial expression. Reimagining the façade of Dior’s historic flagship at 30 Montaigne in Paris, the building is clad in golden bamboo—offering a contemporary interpretation of heritage design.

Collection

The furniture designed by we+ for the Dior Bamboo Pavilion subtly conveys the sublime in the ephemeral and in temporality. Thanks to repurposing and a spirit of circularity, these pieces highlight elements that are often disregarded and transform them into veritable art works. Some of them are crafted using polystyrene boxes from the Tokyo fish market or supermarkets. Once recycled they are shaped into iridescent blue creations that dot various spaces in this singular boutique. As for the daybed, the innovative material used to make it was derived from micro-algae mixed with resin. The final surprise is a metal vase inspired by the accidental shapes that sometimes appear during the bronze casting process. Founded in 2013 by Toshiya Hayashi and Hokuto Ando, the we+ studio gives shape to new values and perspectives through experimental approaches. Design becomes a way of weaving multiple connections between our natural and social environments.
