Cuddle

Cuddle is a lighting system that captures and reflects light through drops of water akin to morning dew, and aims to present new methods of expression that merge nature with the artificial. Using NOSTRA™, a super-hydrophilic coating developed by Mitsui Chemicals Inc., water droplets form on the surface of a board, expressing the fragility and tension similar to water droplets formed at the tip of a leaf. By controlling the shape of the water — which is inherently difficult to manage — it creates never before seen expressions of water, light, and shadow. As a breeze blows across the water droplets, it sparkles, and shadows are cast by the light shimmer as if given a new breath of life.
