Unseen Objects / As Found

Capturing and preserving, as they are, the forms encountered in the manufacturing process

Unseen Objects / As Found is an object collection developed as part of the Unseen Objects series, born from a collaboration between we+ and Heiwa Gokin, a foundry based in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture. The collection captures and preserves, as they are, the forms that emerge in the casting process—tools, fixtures and flow channels through which molten metal is poured—translating them into metal objects without altering their original shapes. By focusing on the backstage of casting culture and elevating these overlooked forms into objects, the collection reveals the essence of advanced casting techniques while simultaneously redefining the value of a culture that has long remained unseen.
